Type 304, an austenitic alloy (non-magnetic), is a T 300 series Stainless Steel, with a minimum of 18% chromium and 8% nickel, combined with a mximum of 0.08% carbon. Having excellent forming and welding characteristics it is the most widely used stainless steel, available in a wider range of products, forms and finishes. Grade 304L, is the low carbon version of 304. Available in Round bar, Square bar, Flat Bar, Round and Square Tubing, Pipe, Sheet, Checkered Plate, and Angle Iron
With the addition of sulpher, 303 Stainless offers the best machinabilty among the austenitic stainless steels. The addition of sulpher decreases its toughness and corrosive resistance, and is used mostly where heavy machining is needed. It is NOT recommended for welding. Availble only as Round Bar
A molybdenum bearing stainless steel, 316 Stainless has better overall corrosive resistance than 304, is durable, easy to fabricate, clean, weld and finish. Availble in Round Bar, Hollow Section, and Plate.
